Prescription & Collection Service
We can arrange to have your prescription collected for you from your doctor and have it dispensed and ready for you to collect from the pharmacy. We offer all the regular dispensing services for the following schemes:
General Medical Scheme (GMS)
Holders of a medical card which are issued by the Health Service Executive (HSE) are entitled to receive certain health services free of charge. From 1st October 2010, medical card holders pay 50c charge per prescription item, subject to a monthly ceiling of €10 per family. You can apply online for a medical card on www.medicalcard.ie.
Drugs Payment Scheme
Those registered under this scheme do not pay anmore than €132 for prescriptions within the month, including items prescribed for other registered family members.
Many items that are not available under the GMS may be got by an individual under the hardship scheme, once they have applied to their local health board. Items supplied include certain skin creams, support stockings etc.
Long Term Illness Scheme (LTI)
The LTI scheme makes provision for the supply of medicines and appliances free of charge to individuals who suffer from certain chronic illnesses: Diabetes Mellitus, Cerebral Palsy, Cystic Fibrosis, Haemophelia, Mental Handicap, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Acute Leukemia, Diabetes Insipidus, Musculor Dystrophy and Parkinsonism.
